About Project
Season one of Random Acts of Flyness is a genre-defying exploration of contemporary Black life, weaving together a mosaic of surreal vignettes, documentary footage, musical numbers, and experimental visuals. Created by Terence Nance, the series challenges conventional storytelling with its free-flowing structure, addressing themes such as systemic racism, police brutality, gender identity, mental health, and Afrofuturism. Each episode flows like a dream — fluid and unpredictable — blending reality with fantasy to provoke thought and elicit visceral emotional responses.
The show doesn’t follow a traditional narrative arc; instead, it immerses viewers in an experience that is both intimate and expansive. With contributions from a diverse creative team including Frances Bodomo, Naima Ramos-Chapman, and Shaka King, season one features a cast of recurring and guest performers who embody a variety of characters and archetypes. From satire to poetic meditations, Random Acts of Flyness acts as both a mirror and a megaphone — reflecting truths while reimagining futures. It’s an audacious, visually rich statement on what it means to be alive, Black, and free in a complex world.
